Devil’s Bridge gains a well-deserved victory at Newcastle

Son of Casamento breaks his maiden in style by three-and-a-half lengths

Devil’s Bridge, a son of first-season stallion Casamento, gained a well-deserved first victory on Friday 12 August when easily disposing of his rivals at Newcastle. So consistent in his four previous starts when never beaten more than two lengths at top tracks Newmarket, Newbury, Haydock and Chester, he was never far off the pace and only had to be tenderly ridden to record a three-and-a-half length success.

Bred by D.G. Iceton and bought by current connections for £58,000 as a yearling, Devil’s Bridge is the eighth winner bred out of the Priolo mare Cantaloupe, a granddaughter of the Classic winner Sarah Siddons.

Casamento, who made a winning debut in August of his two-year-old season before going onto win the G1 Racing Post Trophy, has now sired nine individual winners including the highly-rated Barrington and Irish winners Giselle’s Charm, Pandagreen and Noivado.
