Harry Angel has an exciting juvenile to look forward to for the remainder of the season, following an eyecatching victory for his daughter Angels Lane in the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes, run over five furlongs at Newbury on Friday 14 August.
Angels Lane was always prominent under Nicola Currie, racing on the far side of the track. Shaken up a furlong from home, Henry Candy’s charge moved readily to the front and kept on superbly to win by almost three lengths.
A winner on her racecourse debut in early June, Angels Lane was beaten just a nose in the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint over today’s course and distance last month.
Angels Lane was bred by Llety Farms and is out of the unraced Sayif mare Daisy Lane, herself a daughter of G3 winner Inya Lake, also dam of another Group winner in Jimmy Styles.
Harry Angel now has 18 Stakes horses worldwide in 2026, headed by his G1-winning Australian superstar Tom Kitten, while in the UK Alwaysanangel was third in the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket’s July meeting.
