Space Blues has enjoyed a tremendous season with his first runners, becoming the fastest Dubawi-line stallion to sire a G1 winner following Power Blue’s Phoenix Stakes win. On Thursday, 13 November, he added another new winner to his record when his son Silca Blue won the seven-furlong maiden at Al Rayyan in Qatar.
Racing somewhat keenly during the early stages of the race, Silca Blue eventually settled on the shoulder of the pace-setting My George. Asked to quicken as the field turned for home, Silca Blue battled impressively down the straight to collar the long-time leader and win a length and a quarter.
Silca Blue was bred in Ireland by Mr A A Alkhallaf and is the first foal to race out of the multiple winner Queen Silca (Kingman). The mare is herself a daughter of G1 Moyglare Stud second Silca Chiave and is from the family of G1 Prix Morny winner Silca’s Sister.
Space Blues is now sire of 19 individual winners and four Black Type horses including the aforementioned G1 winner Power Blue - the highest rated juvenile by a freshman this year - plus the highly rated Do Or Do Not, placed at G2 level in the Coventry Royal Ascot and on three subsequent occasions at that level.
His most recent crop of yearlings have sold for €200k, €190k, €170k, with two bringing €150k.
Space Blues stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €15,000, Oct 1, SLF.
