Stakes success for Vachement

Son of Dubawi lands the Junior Cup in Japan

Vachement, a three-year-old son of Dubawi, landed his first Stakes victory on Sunday 6 January when victorious in the Listed Junior Cup over a mile at Nakayama. A €400,000 yearling purchase at Arqana in 2017, he was landing his second race in three career starts after a victory at Tokyo at the backend of his juvenile campaign.

Bred by Gestut Hof Ittlingen, he is the first foal of the Group-winning mare Daksha (Authorized), a granddaughter of Champion Golden Opinion, winner of the G1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Daksha also has a yearling colt by Exceed And Excel.

Vachement becomes the fourth Stakes winner to hail from Dubawi’s 2016 crop, with the other three yet to be beaten. He has the top two juveniles of last season in G1 Dewhurst Stakes hero Too Darn Hot and National Stakes winner Quorto with Al Hilalee (also out of a mare by Authorized) completing the exciting prospects.

The cross has now produced two Stakes winners from only four runners and also includes the multiple two-year-old winner of last season Global Hero, rated 91 by Timeform after victories at Salisbury and Wolverhampton.
