First-season sire Space Blues added two new winners to his record when his two-year-old colt Yaltahem made an impressive debut on the dirt in Saudi Arabia over a mile on Saturday, 29 November, and Deauville Beach, another son of the three-time G1 winner won on his third start over a mile and one furlong at Pisa on Sunday, 30 November.
Ridden handily, Yaltahem was asked confidently to take up the running rounding the home turn and quickly put daylight between himself and his rivals, going on to win comfortably by two lengths.
Another big night (4-timer) for @RicardoSousaFe as YALTAHEM takes the Saturday & race week finale, a 2yo open affair over 1600m. Bred by Mr Simon Chappell, Yaltahem was bought for 105,000gns by Najd Stud/Archdale Bloodstock at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. Out of the winning Dansili mare Jameerah, he hails from the family of Champion mare Time Charter.
The following day at Pisa, Deauville Beach was settled in midfield, before being brought wide to challenge inside the final 400m, quickening into the lead and holding on to win by a neck.
Deauville Beach is out of the unraced Medicean mare Queen Arabella, making him a half-brother to the G3-placed Royal Mews (Siyouni).
Space Blues has now sired 21 individual winners in his first crop, including Power Blue, the highest-rated juvenile by a first-crop sire this year following his victory in the G1 Phoenix Stakes.
Space Blues stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €15,000, Oct 1, SLF.
