Tom Kitten displayed his courage and showed he’s a truly elite miler when he won his second consecutive G1 All-Star Mile at Flemington on Saturday, 7 March.
Beautifully ridden by Craig Williams, who allowed the free-running Pride Of Jenni to bowl along way out in front, Tom Kitten delivered his usual strong finish from third at the 600m pole to run down Evaporate by a long head with Pride Of Jenni clinging on for third a short head away.
Second-up this preparation for co-trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman, and after winning the G3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes over 1,400m at Caulfield on 7 February, Tom Kitten recorded his eighth win with eight placings from 31 starts for a burgeoning prize-money purse of A$7,525,650.
Out of the wonderful Darley broodmare Transfers, who is also the dam of Stakes winners Promotions and Va Via, Tom Kitten has a weanling full-brother.
Winner of the G1 Spring Champion Stakes in 2023, the giant five-year-old claimed his third victory at the highest level and lifted the record of Harry Angel’s progeny to 268 winners of 676 races worldwide, including 20 Stakes winners of 42 Black Type events.
Harry Angel now boasts 70 per cent winners to runners, with earnings of more than $28 million.
The stallion had youngsters sell to A$540,000 at last month’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, and to A$320,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne last week.
