Just four weeks after siring his first Black-Type winner in Australia, Godolphin’s former champion Irish-bred galloper Ghaiyyath provided a 1-2 on Saturday, 18 October when Freedom Flame and Different Gravy drew clear in the Listed Hill Smith Stakes over 1,800m at Morphettville.
Freedom Flame raced in midfield before taking the lead at the 300m pole and just holding off the fast-finishing Different Gravy (out of Venerated) with Kalmana a lengthening 3.5 lengths away in third place. It was the three-year-old filly’s first win in six starts for Adelaide trainer Andrew Gluyas and she was confidently ridden by apprentice Taylor Johnstone.

Bred by the Toorak Thoroughbred Breeding Trust out of Australian mare Khandallah, who is also the dam of six-time Stakes winner Dalasan and 2023 Adelaide Guineas winner Party Princess, Freedom Flame continues to improve and looks to have a bright future over middle distances.
The filly lifted Ghaiyyath’s winners worldwide to 64 of 104 races, including seven Stakes winners of nine Black-Type events.
Over the past seven weeks, the young stallion has sired Yum (Dream Food) to win in Listed company at Caulfield, My Highness (Majestic Queen) to win at G2 level at Deauville, and The Padre (Shalanaya) to score a Black-Type double at Del Mar.
