Second new winner this week for Space Blues

Drago Blues is an easy winner of the Maiden at Rome

Promising first-season sire Space Blues added a new winner to his record when his juvenile son Drago Blues ran out an easy winner of a maiden on his third start at Rome on Tuesday, 15 October. It was the sire’s second new winner this week, following Sing The Blues landing a Goodwood Novice on Sunday.

Settled in midfield throughout the 1,800m contest, Drago Blues was asked for an effort with 600m to run and quickly asserted, winning by a comfortable two-and-a-half lengths.

Bred by Plantation Stud, Drago Blues is out of the Stakes-placed Casamento mare Simplicity and is from the family of G1 St James’s Palace Stakes winner Zafeen (Zafonic).

Space Blues is yet another son of Dubawi to have made a brilliant start to his stallion career. He became the fastest stallion from the Dubawi line to sire a G1 winner when his son Power Blue took the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.
