Raven’s Pass concludes 2017 flat season with a bang

Well-bred filly Tocco d’Amore takes Finale Stakes at Naas

The Finale Stakes was the very last Black Type contest in Ireland this year and the 12-furlong contest was won in emphatic style by Tocco d’Amore, a three-year-old daughter of Raven’s Pass, just a day after he was responsible for Group-winning juvenile Tower Of London.

Never far from the pace under Pat Smullen, the Dermot Weld-trained filly began to make headway two furlongs from home and once taking the lead inside the final furlong, soon put the race to bed and eventually won by three lengths.

Tocco d’Amore remains unbeaten, having broken her maiden by six lengths over 10 furlongs at the same course earlier this year.

Bred by Kilcarn Stud, Tocco d’Amore is out of Spirit Of Tara (Sadler’s Wells), making her a half-sister to Dubai Millennium’s multiple G1-winning son Echo Of Light. She was bought by Moyglare Stud for €2 million at the 2015 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.

Raven’s Pass has enjoyed a very successful campaign in 2017, siring 12 individual Black Type winners, including the aforementioned Tower Of London and multiple Group winner and G1-placed Big Duke.

Raven’s Pass stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €10,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
