Quenelle d’Or a new Stakes winner for Golden Horn

Three-year-old filly leads from pillar to post to land Listed Prix des Tourelles

Golden Horn’s daughter Quenelle d’Or added a first Black Type victory to her record in tenacious style on Tuesday, 15 September when leading all the way to land the Listed Prix des Tourelles, run over 12 furlongs at Saint-Cloud.

The Hugo Palmer-trained filly was soon in front under jockey Ioritz Mendizabal and was asked to quicken with three furlongs left to run. Hard pressed by eventual second Control Tower during the closing stages, Quenelle d’Or was always doing enough to stay in front and crossed the line a neck ahead. She now has three wins to her name.

Bred by Stanley House Stud, Quenelle d’Or is one of two winners from two foals to race out of the winning Nayef mare Quenelle, herself a half-sister to Stakes winner Viva Vettori and from the family of the great race mare and G1 producer, Ouija Board.

Golden Horn is also sire this year of Listed winner and G2 Park Hill Stakes second Golden Pass, plus fellow Stakes winners Sun Of Gold and Ad Infinitum.
