Impressive new Stakes winner for Golden Horn

Diamantis cruises to victory in the Langer Hamburger

Golden Horn added a new Black Type winner to his record on Wednesday, 29 June when his four-year-old son Diamantis ran out the very easy winner of the Listed Langer Hamurger at Hamburg.

Sent off as favourite to take the 3,200m contest, Diamantis raced in third for much of the race, before making his move at the top of the home straight. Taking the lead inside the final two furlongs, he eased clear and was never seriously challenged, eventually winning by three and a quarter lengths.

Diamantis was bred by Gestut Brummerhof and is out of the Group-placed Fantastic Light mare Diamantgottin, making him a half-brother to G1 Preis der Diana winner Diamanta. His third dam is Dunoof, a full sister to High Hawk – dam of In The Wings and he is also from the extended family of Dubawi.

Golden Horn, who won the Derby, the Eclipse, the Irish Champion Stakes and the Arc during an outstanding racing career, is now sire of 28 horses who have won or placed at Stakes level. His progeny have an impressive median Timeform rating of 88.
