Night Of Thunder storming clear

Impressive freshman has the best juvenile percentages in Europe

First-crop sire sensation Night Of Thunder has enjoyed a spectacular start with his first runners and he currently leads all other stallions in Europe.

With 22 individual winners from only 35 European runners, Night Of Thunder sits on top of not only the Freshman sires' table, but all other stallions with 20 or more runners in Europe. His 63% winners to runners is a full 17% clear of his nearest pursuer Kingman, with a trio of world-class stallions sitting third on 41%: Dubawi, Galileo and Siyouni.

Eight of his sons and daughters have won in September alone, including Listed Flying Scotsman hero Molatham, who has been allotted a Timeform rating of 109p, easy Ascot winner Pocket Square and five-length Novice scorer Stormy Girl.

With quantity also comes quality, and his 18% Stakes horses to runners is also the best in Europe. Sitting a full 3% behind is again Kingman, who covered last season at a fee of £75,000, with Galileo, Gleneagles and Siyouni all recording 13%.

Night Of Thunder’s six Stakes performers are headed by G3 Princess Margaret Stakes winner Under The Stars, Molatham and the unbeaten Thunderous, winner of the Listed Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury in August. Third behind Thunderous that day was Sun Power, who has also finished second in the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot. Night Of Thunder’s Stakes performers are completed by Lady Penelope, a narrow second in the Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes this month, and French runner Thunderspeed.
