Night Of Thunder to stand in Ireland in 2016

Classic-winning miler to join Darley roster at Kildangan

The dual G1-winning miler Night Of Thunder will take up stud duties at Kildangan Stud in 2016.

The son of Dubawi defeated one of the strongest fields in living memory for the 2,000 Guineas when triumphing in last year’s race, with the subsequent Classic winners Australia, The Grey Gatsby and Kingston Hill as well as top performers Kingman and Charm Spirit among those defeated.

This year Night Of Thunder went on to add a brilliant victory in the G1 Lockinge Stakes for Godolphin to his tally.

Trained throughout his career by Richard Hannon, Night Of Thunder was also an unbeaten Stakes winner at two. In addition to his two G1 victories, he was placed at the highest level on three occasions and retired with earnings of over €1,100,000.

Out of the Galileo mare Forest Storm, Night Of Thunder hails from the talented family of the Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Forest Flower, also the Champion juvenile filly of her year.

Gerry Duffy, General Manager of Kildangan, commented: “We’re delighted to be standing Night Of Thunder at Kildangan in 2016. He was an extremely talented racehorse, beating eight individual G1 winners when winning the Guineas and he showed that tough grit and determination that Dubawis have when winning this year’s Lockinge. I have no doubt he will be very popular amongst Irish breeders.”

A fee for Night Of Thunder will be announced at a later date.
