Highfield Princess back to her brilliant best with easy win in G2 King George

Scintillating Goodwood victory sees Night Of Thunder’s outstanding daughter installed as favourite to win back-to-back Nunthorpes

Highfield Princess has been a wonderful flagbearer for her sire Night Of Thunder, winning 13 times: six of them Stakes races and three at G1 level. On Friday 4 August she added a fifth Group victory to her record in superb style, with a dominant win in the G2 King George at Glorious Goodwood.

Quickly away, Joh Quinn’s charge travelled well throughout and cruising to the lead two furlongs out, soon moved clear and eventually won by three lengths.

Highfield Princess will now head to York, where she will bid to win the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes for the second consecutive year. She is also winner of the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest and G1 Flying Five, and finished a close runner up in both of Royal Ascot’s G1 sprint features, the King’s Stand and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.

Bred by John Fairley's Trainers House Enterprises, Highfield Princess is out of the winning Danehill-mare Pure Illusion, and a half-sister to four winners including G2-winning juvenile Cardsharp (Lonhro).
