Harry Angel’s Al Dasim chalks up another impressive win at Meydan

Europe’s best three-year-old of 2023 adds $100,000 Dubai Trophy to his record

Harry Angel has made a flying start to the year with his first three-year-olds, who have already amassed four performances rated 90 or higher by Timeform, a figure that can only be matched by Dubawi.

On Friday, 10 February his exciting son Al Dasim earned himself a step up to Pattern company when posting a wide-margin win in the six-furlong Dubai Trophy – his fourth straight victory and fifth overall.

Racing freely in mid division during the early stages, George Boughey’s charge began to make headway approaching the two-furlong marker and once asked to quicken, soon took up the running and from then on the result was never in doubt as he eased clear to win by three and three-quarter lengths.

His trainer indicated after the race that Al Dasim will now be aimed at the G3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint on Super Saturday and potentially the G1 Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup night. The top three-year-old sprints back in the UK would then be on the cards, with the G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot a long-term target.

Al Dasim was bred by Skymarc Farm and is out of the winning Dansili mare Dance Hall Girl, making him a half-brother to Stakes winner and G1 Dewhurst fourth Tashweeq. They are from the family of French Classic winner Bachir.

Harry Angel has 21 runners from his first crop rated 80+ by Timeform, putting him ahead of Mehmas, Showcasing, Ardad and Bated Breath. His Gimcrack runner up Marshman put up the best performance for a first-season sire in 2022.

Harry Angel stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £10,000, Oct 1 SLF.
