Dubawi in command on Day 2 at Tattersalls

2.1m gns colt leads proceedings on the second day of Book 1

Dubawi remained in command during the second day of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, with a colt by the leading sire topping proceedings at 2,100,000gns.

Consigned by Watership Down Stud, the March colt is out of Nature Spirits, a Listed winner in France and a half-sister to the G2 winner Curtain Call, from the family of the Champion Hernando. The winning bid was made by John Ferguson.

Another son of Dubawi who was much in demand was lot 328, a half-brother to the G2 Park Hill Stakes heroine Silk Sari offered by Highclere Stud, who was snapped up by Roger Varian for 850,000gns. Earlier in the session agents Geoffrey Howson and Matt Holdsworth went to 500,000gns to secure a Dubawi colt from the high-class family of Diamond Green.

Varian was also the purchaser of another choice lot by the Darley stallions, securing a full-sister to the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Lumiere (Shamardal) for 550,000gns.

Several lots earlier, an Exceed And Excel half-brother to the G1 sprinter Maarek was purchased by Ferguson for 480,000gns. The colt, from New England Stud, is out of the smart sprinter Ruby Rocket, from the talented further family of Swiss Lake.
