Camporella flies at Ascot

Exceed And Excel filly wins the Listed Gimcrack Stakes at Ascot, Australia

Having won the Restricted Listed Perth Magic Millions at her most recent start, two-year-old Exceed And Excel filly Camporella started the favourite to make it back to back Stakes wins in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes on 23 March.

Trained by Dan Morton, the lightly raced filly scored by a narrow head margin to give her sire a juvenile Stakes double after the earlier victory of Overreach in the G2 Moet & Chandon Stakes at Rosehill.

The juvenile Stakes double further highlights the exceptional sire ability of Exceed And Excel, with no other stallion having produced more Stakes winning two-year-olds worldwide since 2008 than the dual G1-winning son of Danehill.

Bred by the Kelly’s Newhaven Park Stud and sold through the Perth Magic Millions yearling sale to her trainer, Camporella is out of the Listed-winning Real Quiet mare Really Flying. From the family of G1 winners Easy Rocking and Fairy King Prawn, Newhaven Park Stud will offer lot 475 at this year’s Inglis Easter yearling sale, a Shamardal half-sister to Camporella.

As the sire of 119 Stakes performers highlighted by 11 G1 performers including Excelebration, Margot Did, Reward For Effort and Darley stallion Helmet, Exceed And Excel stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £35,000 October 1st SLF, while Helmet stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €10,000.
