Bahrain Trophy victory for Dubawi’s Yibir

New winners for Profitable and Ribchester on successful afternoon for the Darley stallions

Dubawi’s sensational season continued on Thursday, 8 July when his three-year-old son Yibir ran out the ready winner of the G3 Bahrain Trophy on the opening day of the July meeting at Newmarket.

Charlie Appleby’s charge was settled towards the rear under James Doyle before making headway two furlongs from home. Yibir took the lead a furlong out and kept on superbly to win by two and a half lengths from Mandoob (Farhh).

Yibir won twice at two and has raced solely in Stakes company this year, finishing a close third in the Classic Trial at Sandown in April before taking second to subsequent Irish Derby second Lone Eagle in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes.

Yibir is out of the Stakes-winning Monsun mare Rumh, making him a full brother to Dubawi’s three-time G1 winner Wild Illusion.

Also on Wednesday, first-season sires Profitable and Ribchester both recorded new winners, and both with first-time-out runners.

Miss Calculation (Profitable) put up a tremendous performance on her racecourse debut, easily winning the six-furlong maiden. She was bred by Kildaragh Stud and is out of the multiple winner Maria Kristina.

At Carlisle, Ribchester’s daughter Nurseclaire overcame signs of greenness to take the seven-furlong fillies’ maiden. She is trained by Ribchester’s former handler Richard Fahey and was bred by S C E A Ecurie Haras Du Cadran Et Al.
