Day of dominance for Dubawi and his sons

Europe’s dominant sireline has four new Black Type winners in Britain and Ireland

Saturday 29, August was a banner day for Dubawi and his sons when they sired four new Group winners in Britain and Ireland.

First to strike was Dubawi’s first-crop sire Naval Crown, who had his first career Stakes winner when his daughter Sea Of Rain landed the G3 Flame Of Tara Stakes. The most experienced in the field with six previous runs, she always cruised through the race and held on to win by three-quarters-of-a-length in the one-mile contest.

Owned, trained and bred by Jim Bolger, Sea Of Rain is a daughter of the winning Teofilo mare Neophilia. The bullish trainer commented about her being his Oaks filly for next year after the race.

Attention then switched to Sandown Park with Dubawi siring a brace of G3 winners in quick succession.

First to strike was Love Dynasty in the G3 Atalanta Stakes, when she go the better of Noche Clasica (Night Of Thunder) by a neck in the one-mile contest. Lightly raced for a five-year-old, she has now won three of her seven career starts.

One race later it was the turn of Alfred Wallace to salute the judge when taking the G3 Solario Stakes by half-a-length. The two-year-old colt is owned and bred by Rockcliffe Stud and a son of their brilliant racemare Snow Lantern, winner of the G1 Falmouth Stakes in 2021.

Back at the Curragh it was the turn of Champion sire Night Of Thunder to have a new Group winner when his three-year-old daughter Miss Scott easily won the G3 Snow Fairy Stakes. Bred by Ballylinch Stud and Ecurie des Charmes, her breakthrough win came by nearly four lengths in the nine-furlong contest.

Dubawi is now pre-eminent sireline in Europe, with 76 European Stakes winners in 2026 descending from him, more than either the Sadler’s Wells, Storm Bird or Green Desert lines. They also include fellow Darley stallions Ghaiyyath, Too Darn Hot and Space Blues.
