Romantic Symphony looked a classy prospect for Charlie Appleby when landing the Listed Chalice Stakes at Newmarket's July Course on Saturday 1st August.
The daughter of Dubawi looked splendid beforehand and remained cool throughout proceedings. After a fairly even break, Romantic Symphony was content to sit around mid-division and travelled comfortably within what looked to be an even pace in the mile and a half contest. Jockey Billy Loughnane, who was seeking his third consecutive victory in the race, had her positioned one off the rail and enjoyed an unimpeded passage to make steady headway three furlongs from home. The imposing filly readily responded to her rider as she stretched away from the field, claiming victory by a comfortable length and a quarter.
Bred by Godolphin from the dual-winning mare Rumh (Monsun), Romantic Symphony has big shoes to fill, being a full-sister to three-time winner Wild Crusade, Great Voltigeur, Princess Of Wales's Stakes and Breeder's Cup Turf hero Yibir and multiple G1 winner of the Nassau Stakes, Prix De L'Opera and Prix Marcel Boussac, Wild Illusion.
Dubawi continues to be the standard to which all others aspire. Now a European record-holder with 50 yearlings making £1m+ in the sales ring, he has continued to fulfil the legacy begun by his sire, Dubai Millennium. He has sired the winners of over 200 Group races and his progeny enjoyed success in six G1 races in 2025. A sire of stallions, his line continues in sons Modern Games, Naval Crown, Space Blues, Ghaiyyath, Night Of Thunder and Too Darn Hot.
