Zaydann, a consistent four-year-old son of Dubawi, continued on his upward trajectory on Wednesday, 22 July when storming home to take the 10-furlong G3 Grand Prix de Vichy.
Held up towards the rear under Mickael Barzalona, Zaydann was always in touch and came with a powerful late run a furlong from home to collar long-time leader Woodchuck and the useful Godolphin runner Casapueblo and win by half a length.
This was the third Stakes victory on the bounce for Francis-Henri Graffard’s charge, who won the Listed Prix Lyphard last autumn before kicking off his 2026 season with victory in the Grand Prix de Bordeaux. He has never finished out of the frame in his six starts.
A homebred for the Aga Khan Studs, Zaydann is out of the Stakes-winning Siyouni mare Zaykava, herself a daughter of the outstanding racemare and G1 producer Zarkava, also dam of Dubawi’s leading stallion son Zarak. Zaydann is the fourth winner from four runners for Dubawi out of Siyouni mares, together with G2 winner and G1-placed Erevann plus the highly rated duo Castle Stuart and Dubawi Spectre.
Dubawi continues to excel in all fields: he earned his record-setting fourth G1 Lockinge Stakes win when future Darley stallion Notable Speech showcased his flawless turn of foot to land his fifth G1 victory. He is sire of four of the last five winners of the Breeders’ Cup Mile. He also led all stallions by yearling average in 2025 – for the fifth consecutive year and is the sire of 50 £1m+ yearlings – a European record.
