More Group Race glory for Too Darn Hot

Title Role surges to a blistering victory in the G2 German 2000 Guineas

Too Darn Hot claimed more Black Type success at Cologne on Monday 25th May 2026 when his talented son Title Role saw of all challengers to grab a thrilling win in the G2 German 2000 Guineas over one mile.

The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained colt broke alertly and was settled just behind the pace by Sean Levey. Shuffling back into midfield as the tempo wound up, Title Role's jockey had to nudge him to get competitive but his mount responded well, picking his way between runners before mounting a challenge inside the final two furlongs before ultimately asserting to win by a length and a quarter. Last seen finishing fifth in the Greenham Stakes behind Alparslan, Title Role was previously victorious in two starts at Meydan, including in Listed company.

Bred by Hascombe and Valiant Stud, he is out of the mare Valiant Girl (Lemon Drop Kid) and is the most prolific of her seven individual winning offspring.

Too Darn Hot is proving himself to be a sire of substance, with a clutch of G1 and Classic contenders that continues on an impressive upward curve, both in the Northern and Southern hemispheres. His latest yearlings outsold his first two crops with a £164k average (off a £40k fee) and a million-guinea top lot. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £100,000 (Oct 1 SLF)
