First Law, a juvenile son of Too Darn Hot, remained unbeaten with a fluent win in the Listed Ascendant Stakes on Saturday, 5 September. Making only his second career start after a win at Sandown Park, he went to the front from the stalls in the one-mile contest, and battled gamely for a three-quarters-of-a-length triumph.

The Ascendant Stakes has a rich history of producing top-class runners including the unbeaten Classic hero Bow Echo (Night Of Thunder), Royal Ascot G1 winner Triple Time, and Teofilo’s G1 scorer Havana Gold.
Bred by Airlie Stud and Mrs Sonia Rogers, First Law was sold for 1,000,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother G1-winner Skitter Scatter and three-parts brother to G2-juvenile Victory Dance (Dubawi). His dam, the Street Cry mare Dane Street, has produced seven winners including the dam of US G1 winner Aspen Grove.
Too Darn Hot has sired 13 Black Type winners in 2026 including five that have won at the highest level; Glacius, Hotazhell, Native Approach, Title Roll and Tropicus. It was also his second new Stakes winner on the day after G2 heroine Bangkok Hottie in Australia.
