Observer again stamped his class when he returned to racing to win the G2 Autumn Stakes over 1,400m at Caulfield on Saturday, 7 February. #Ghaiyyath notches first and third in the G2 Autumn Stakes 🥇🥉
The three-year-old son of 2020 European Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath raced outside the lead before taking over and racing clear to beat Planet Red by 1.25 lengths, with another Ghaiyyath three-year-old Victorious Spirit three-quarters of a length away in third place.
Observer, the reigning G1 Victoria Derby prince, stopped the clock on 1 minute 22.39 seconds under stable jockey Ethan Brown.
Out of the Lonhro mare Smooth and now trained at Cranbourne by Ciaron Maher, Observer will target the G1 Australian Guineas 1,600m at Flemington against three-year-olds later this month and possibly the G1 Australian Cup over 2,000m at weight-for-age.
Ghaiyyath has now sired 78 winners of 140 races, including nine Stakes winners of 15 Stakes races.
His talented son Opera Ballo won the G2 Al Rashidiya Stakes over 1,800m at Meydan on 19 December before returning to take the G1 Jebel Hatta Stakes 1,800m on 23 January.
Two lots by Ghaiyyath averaged NZ$367,500 at the recent Karaka Yearling Sale in New Zealand, while the stallion will be represented by six lots at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney from 8 February.
