One year after finishing a fast-closing third in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, Notable Speech returned to Del Mar and made things right with an electrify performance to capture the race by one-and-a-half lengths.
The four-year-old son of Dubawi became the fourth winner of the Mile not only for his amazing sire, but also for owner/breeder Godolphin, joining the likes of Space Blues (2021), Modern Games (2022), and Master of The Seas (2023).
Notable Speech broke alertly and was settled in hand, racing in mid-pack and on the rail as One Stripe and Qirat went to the front to set the pace. Notable Speech continued to scrape paint on the rail into the far turn, as G1 Coolmore Turf Mile winner Rhetorical loomed a threat to the leaders on the far outside. As Rhetorical quickened into the lane, Notable Speech shot through an opening along the rail and rocketed to the lead, hitting the wire an easy winner.
A homebred for Godolphin, Notable Speech is out of the Group-placed Invincible Spirit mare Swift Rose, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Wild Beauty and fellow Dubawi Group winner Desert Wisdom.
Dubawi is the founder of his very own dynasty with over numerous stallion sons in Europe including Champion-elect Night Of Thunder. 2025 has been yet another stellar year for Dubawi, with six top-flight scorers headed by Irish Champion hero Delacroix, the globetrotting Rebel's Romance, and the future Darley stallion Notable Speech.
