Teofilo’s ultra-consistent daughter Taany was an impressive winner of the G3 Premio Verziere – Memorial Aldo Cirla over a mile and two furlongs at Milan on Sunday, 12 October.
Trained by Luciano Vitabile, Taany was ridden prominently and took up the lead four furlongs from home. The five-year-old mare quickened up well and kicked clear in the final furlong, going on to win by four lengths.
Bred by Shadwell Estate Company, Taany is out of the winning Dubawi mare Aghaany, who herself is a daughter of Stakes winner Hathrah.
Teofilo has enjoyed an outstanding career as a sire, with 24 individual G1 winners on his record. His G1-winning son Nations Pride landed another Group race earlier this year when taking the G2 Singspiel Stakes, while his progressive son Merchant was successful at the Royal meeting, winning the King George V Stakes before going on to capture the G3 Gordon Stakes.
