G2 success for son of Dubawi

The Revenant strikes late to take the G2 Badener Meile

Dubawi’s four-year-old son The Revenant made a successful step up in class when taking the G2 Badener Meile at Baden-Baden on Thursday, 30 May. Settling towards the rear, jockey Ronan Thomas made his move on the final turn, sweeping past the field in the final 200m to clinch victory by ½ length. Previously trained by Hugo Palmer, The Revenant has suffered defeat only once in his seven starts for current trainer Francis-Henri Graffard having taken the G3 Prix Edmond Blanc on his last start in late March.

Owned and bred by Al Asayl Bloodstock, The Revenant is the second foal out of the G3 St Simon Stakes winner Hazel Lavery. This is the family of G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial victor Artema and G3 Gladness Stakes winner Prince Echo.

Dubawi is the sire of 17 stakes winners in 2019 including G1 Dubai Sheema Classic hero Old Persian, G2 Prix d’Harcourt victor Ghaiyyath and G2 Middleton Stakes winner Lah Ti Dar.
