Jack’s Point off the mark

Son of Slade Power beats a field of winners at Chelmsford

In a small but select field, Jack’s Point won for the first time at Chelmsford, becoming winner number nine for first-season sire Slade Power. Facing three previous winners, he showed speed to track the pace in the five-furlong contest before asserting close home to beat the highly rated pair Magical Wish and Tin Hat (Helmet).

Bred by G R Bailey and bought by connections for 120,000Gns, he is the fourth foal, and fourth winner bred by the three-time winning Shamardal mare Electra Star. Her previous winners include Champion Electra Voice (Poet’s Voice) and last season's multiple winning juvenile Starlight Mystery (Iffraaj).

Earlier in the afternoon Slade Power was the sire of the exciting Bruce Wayne, who on only his second career start finished second in the G3 Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh. Beaten by the well-regarded Ten Sovereigns, he finished well clear of his other rivals and is an excellent prospect for the remainder of the season.
