Success at the Spa
Today's racing at Baden-Baden proved very successful for Darley sires Shamardal and Manduro, as their progeny took the two Black type races on the card.
Haras du Logis resident Manduro (pictured) recorded a new Stakes winner on 4 June when his daughter Techno Queen swept down the home straight to take the Listed Preis der Baden-Badener.
Racing towards the rear for much of the 11-furlong contest, the four-year-old filly came with a fantastic late run once the field quickened for home, flying past her rivals and outbattling Lili Moon to win by a nose.
This was the third consecutive win and fourth career victory for Techno Queen, who was bred in Ireland by Kildaragh Stud and John Egan. She is out of the multiple winner Tryphanea, herself a half-sister to G1 winner and German 2,000 Guineas hero Turfkonig, plus German 1,000 Guineas winner Tryphosa.
Manduro has also sired fellow Stakes winners True Story and Greatwood in 2015, plus a further four horses who have been placed at Black type level. He is sire of three G1 winners to date, and five further Group winners.
Manduro stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €7,000 October 1st SLF.
Later, Shamardal's G1 winner Amaron added a ninth Stakes win to his impressive record when taking the feature race of the day, the G2 Badener Meile by a short head.
Amaron was bred in the UK by Genesis Green Stud and is out of the Bertolini mare Amandalini, a half-sister to G2 winner Persian Lux.
Shamardal has sired 13 individual Stakes winners already this year, including G1-winning duo Able Friend and Dunboyne Express. He is also sire of 1,000 Guineas runner up Lucida, who holds an entry in the G1 Coronation Stakes at Ascot's Royal meeting later this month.
