Soul Train steams to G3 glory

Three-year-old son of Manduro victorious in Derby Trial

It was a Darley double at Baden-Baden on Sunday, 24 May with Haras du Logis stalwart Manduro siring the winner of the G3 Derby Trial just thirty minutes after stablemate Bow Creek got off the mark as a sire. Soul Train, a French-bred three-year-old son of Manduro, made a sweeping run from the middle of the course, sealing victory in the dying strides to win by a length for trainer Andreas Wohler.

Bred by S.A.R.L Plersch Breeding, Soul Train is a half-brother to two Black Type performers in Linngaro and Love And Peace, out of the G1 winning two-year-old Indochine (Special Nash). Bred in Brazil, she is a half-sister to G2 victrix Ladyttore and from the extended family of G1 Brazilian Oaks winner Immensity.

Manduro is the sire of six G1 winners including multiple G1 victor Vazirabad, Prix Jean Romanet heroine Ribbons and record-breaking French champion two-year-old Ultra. He enjoyed particular success last season with Scandinavian sensation Square De Luynes, an undefeated three-time Group winner in 2019.
