Second Stakes victory for Nichols Canyon

Authorized colt lands the Listed Prix Denisy by four lengths at Saint-Cloud

Nichols Canyon, a three-year-old son of Authorized, continued his successful autumn campaign in tremendous style on 14 November when landing the Listed Prix Denisy at Saint-Cloud by no fewer than four lengths.

Settled just off the pace under Olivier Peslier, John Gosden’s charge was asked to quicken with around two furlongs left to run and from then on the result was never in doubt as he skipped clear and won easily. T

his was his second Stakes win of the year, following a convincing victory in the Noel Murless Stakes on 4 October, en route to a second place in the G3 St Simon Stakes later the same month.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Nichols Canyon is out of the unraced Dalakhani mare Zam Zoom, herself a half-sister to Exceed And Excel’s Group-winning son Nideeb. He is from the family of multiple G1 winners Warrsan and Luso.

Authorized has enjoyed a superb year, siring no fewer than three G1 winners in Seal Of Approval (Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes), Ambivalent (Pretty Polly Stakes) and Complacent (Spring Champion Stakes).

New to the roster at Haras du Logis in France for 2014, he will stand at a fee of €10,000 October 1st Special Live Foal.
