Yibir back to his best at Sandown

Talented son of Dubawi runs out the ready winner of Sandown’s Listed Marathon

Dubawi’s G1-winning son Yibir returned to winning ways in fine style on Friday 7 July with an easy victory in the two-mile Listed Marathon at Sandown.

After being squeezed for room upon exiting the stalls, Yibir was settled at the rear of the field under William Buick. He began to make his move half a mile from home and switched out with two furlongs left to run, cruised clear to win by three and a half lengths.

Yibir, who is trained for Godolphin by Charlie Appleby, won the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf in 2021, a win that followed success in the G2 Great Voltigeur Stakes and the valuable Jockey Club Derby Invitational. Last year he was placed in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic and G1 Man O’War Stakes and won the G2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket exactly a year ago today.

Reigning Champion Sire Dubawi now has 24 individual Stakes winners to his name in 2023, headed by G1-winning trio Modern Games, In Italian and Lord North.
