Wonderful Tiger takes Stakes in Macau

Australian bred colt Wonderful Tiger caps off a big weekend for Exceed And Excel when winning the Listed Grand Lisboa Cup at Taipa

Following Helmet's outstanding victory in the G1 ATC Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick, the horse formerly known as Dominguin, gives Exceed And Excel, Australian Champion First and Second Season Sire by earnings, his thirty fourth career stakes winner globally.

Ridden by top Hong Kong based rider, Howard Cheng, Wonderful Tiger settled back in the field, and was travelling sweetly rounding the turn, shouldering his way out to reel in the leaders quickly. The bay was ridden hands and heels to the line to post a two-length victory by an obviously ecstatic Cheng who saluted on the line.

Bred by Seaforth Securities, the son of Exceed And Excel was a $750,000 purchase at the 2008 Australian Easter Yearling Sale. Wonderful Tiger is from the Timber Country mare Brave and Bold, a daughter of Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Bravery, and a three-quarter sister to G2 winner Timbourina.

From his first three Northern Hemisphere crops Exceed And Excel has sired eight Stakes winning juveniles including last seasons Horris Hill and Cornwallis Stakes winners, Klammer and Electric Waves. He stands this season at Dalham Hall Stud for £12,000.
