Without a Fight proves his stamina at York

Teofilo’s son wins Listed Grand Cup Stakes

Without a Fight, a son of Teofilo, put up a smart performance to win the Listed Grand Cup Stakes at York on Saturday, 11 June, for his owner and breeder Sheikh Mohammed Obaid.

Trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, the five-year-old who has previously won over twelve furlongs, proved his stamina at fourteen furlongs today. Tracking the leader, he was then pushed along by jockey Andrea Atzeni to hit the front in the final two furlongs, before staying on to score by a cosy length and three quarters.

Without a Fight is out of the G3 winning mare, Khor Sheed (Dubawi), herself a half-sister to G1 Prix d’Ispahan winner, Prince Kirk.

Teofilo, is a sire of 22 winners at the highest level, including fellow G1 Melbourne Cup winners, Cross Counter and Twilight Payment and G1 Ascot Gold Cup winner in 2021, Subjectivist. He was also the broodmare sire of both this year's Guineas winners (Coroebus and Cachet), a feat not achieved for 120 years.
