Tip-top Timeform two-year-olds

The Darley stallions have been enjoying a purple patch with their two-year-old recently, with Kheleyf currently leading European sire of juveniles. When you look at this week’s Timeform figures, two more stallions - Exceed and Excel and New Approach - are certainly making a positive impression with their youngsters.

The Darley duo head the table of two-year-olds rated 90+, with Exceed And Excel notching up four, and New Approach just one behind with three.

Heavy Metal leads the way for Exceed And Excel with a rating of 101 following his pair of victories and the narrowest of defeats in the Listed Woodcote Stakes on Derby day at Epsom. His paternal half-sister Exceptionelle was hugely impressive when winning on her debut a few days later, earning her a mark of 94p.

New Approach’s unbeaten Stakes winner Dawn Approach heads his trio of 90+ rated runners. The experts at Timeform clearly think there is more to come from Jim Bolger’s charge, having allotted him a rating of 110p.

Newfangled, wide-margin winner of a Newmarket maiden last week, earns a rating of 92P (the highest-rated juvenile with a capital ‘P’), while Godolphin’s Tha’Ir, who won by the same four-and-a-half-length margin as Newfangled, is rated 91p.
