Tiger Tees wins Darley Sprint

Dubawi records his 25th individual Group winner

Tiger Tees became the 25th Group winner for Dubawi when winning the G3 BRC Darley Sprint at Doomben. The five-year-old won the Listed Hall Mark Stakes in April and stepped up to Group class with a hard-fought defeat of Meet George in a driving finish to the six-and-a-half-furlong sprint.

The consistent Joe Pride-trainee has now won eight of his 11 starts and been placed in his other three. His trainer indicated after the race that he is now likely to step up in class again, with his next start likely to be in the A$1 million G1 Stradbroke Handicap.

"He's a top-shelf galloper and he keeps improving every time I raise the bar and he'll need to improve again from this," Pride said. "If the track happens to be wet on Stradbroke day he'll be very hard to beat that I am sure of. That was a tough effort but he is a tough horse and he has an amazing constitution."

A half-brother to the five-time Listed race winner Our Lukas, Tiger Tees was bred by M J Ryan with his dam Parfore foaling a colt by Dubawi in 2010.

Tiger Tees is the second G3 winner this week for Dubawi, following Worthadd's victory in the Badener Meile. Mickdaam won the G3 Chester Vase on May 10, while Al Kazeem was the impressive winner of the G2 Jockey Club Stakes on May 5.
