Thrilling G2 win for Dubawi’s son Space Blues

Improving colt wins the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood

Space Blues, an improving four-year-old son of Dubawi, won his third Stakes race of 2020 in the G2 Lennox Stakes on Tuesday, 28 July. Held up in his customary fashion in the seven furlong contest, he made smooth headway in the straight, quickening well to easily win by two lengths.

Now the winner of six of his 12 career starts, the consistent colt has won three previous Stakes races including the G3 Prix de la Porte Maillot and Listed Spring Trophy on his last two starts. A seven-furlong specialist, he has never finished out of the two in seven tries at the trip.

Space Blues is one of four winners bred by seven-furlong G2 winner Miss Lucifer, winner of the Challenge Stakes in 2007. Miss Lucifer also has a two-year-old filly by Night Of Thunder in training with Charlie Appleby.

Dubawi is the only British stallion to have reached 100 Group winners and has sired 186 individual Stakes winners. This season he has sired Eclipse hero Ghaiyyath, rated the best horse in the world in 2020, Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Lord North and G2-winning juvenile Master Of The Seas, rated the best two-year-old colt in Europe.
