Threading adds a second Stakes win to her record in sensational style

Daughter of Exceed And Excel storms to seven-length victory in Michael Seely Memorial at York

Three-year-old Exceed And Excel filly Threading was an extremely smart juvenile last year, winning the G2 Lowther Stakes and on Friday, 18 May, she made a victorious return to York racecourse with the easiest of wins in the Listed Michael Seely Memorial.

Settled in third under the in-form William Buick, Threading took up the running two furlongs out and simply skipped clear, eventually winning the seven-and-three-quarter-furlong contest by a full seven lengths.

The G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas is now on the cards for Mark Johnston’s charge.

Threading, who runs in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed al Maktoum, is out of Chaquiras, a full sister to none other than Dubai Millennium. Threading has a 2018 two-year-old by Darley first-season sire Slade Power and has visited Exceed And Excel again this year.

Exceed And Excel is now sire of six Black Type winners so far this year, including G2 winner Heavy Metal and fellow Group winners Folkswood and Performer. He stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000, Oct 1, SLF.
