Third Stakes win for Met Spectrum

Three-year-old son of Helmet lands the Listed Premio Gardone

Despite meeting trouble in running, Helmet’s three-year-old son Met Spectrum landed his third Stakes victory on Saturday, 7 April when winning the Listed Premio Gardone. Run over a mile in Milan, he was repeatably denied a clear passage in the straight before flying at the finish to overhaul Sir Vales by a narrow margin.

Making his seasonal debut, he has now won four of his five career starts including a brace of Stakes victories as a juvenile last season.

Owned and bred by Scuderia Blueberry, Met Spectrum is a son of the Stakes-winning mare Mara Spectrum, who has produced three Stakes performers from five runners. Mara Spectrum is a half-sister to the Italian 1,000 Guineas winner Dancer Destination, whose first foal Dancer Cross (Cape Cross), won the Listed Premio Luciano Mantovani as a two-year-old last season.

Helmet is enjoying an excellent run of form with just last weekend his star son Thunder Snow winning the G1 Dubai World Cup at Meydan. He also has Italy’s Champion three-year-old of 2017 in Anda Muchacho, winner of six of his seven starts, and the highly rated Stakes winning pair Eqtiraan and Taamol. Helmet is standing this season at a fee of £12,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
