Teofilo’s son Exultant adds further Stakes glory

Five-year-old son a determined winner of the G2 Jockey Club Cup

Exultant, formerly known as Irishcorrespondent, added a further Black Type win to his burgeoning record when taking the G2 Jockey Club Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday, 17 November.

The five-year-old son of Teofilo has already taken three Stakes wins in 2019 including two at G1 level. Settled in mid division, Exultant began to make headway within the last 800m, striking the front and staying on to win by a length and three quarters.

Bred by Ballygallon Stud and formerly trained by Mick Halford, Exultant is the fourth foal out of the winning Mark Of Esteem mare Contrary. She is a half-sister to the Group-winning sprinters Spirit Quartz and Caspian Prince.

Teofilo is the sire of 16 individual G1 winners including last years Melbourne Cup hero Cross Counter and Yorkshire Oaks victrix Pleascach. Exultant leads his 28 Black Type performers in 2019 which also includes Donjah, Twilight Payment and Happy Clapper.

Teofilo stands at Kildangan Stud for €40,000, Oct 1, SLF.
