Teofilo’s Flight Risk adds another Black Type win to his record

Seasoned campaigner lands Glencairn Stakes by three and a half lengths

Flight Risk may be in his seventh season of racing, but the son of Teofilo showed no signs of slowing down on Thursday, 6 June when he ran out the easy winner of the Listed Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown.

Jim Bolger’s charge was settled towards the rear of the field under jockey Kevin Manning, before being switched wide once entering the home straight. He then made smooth progress to take up the running a furlong out and soon moved clear, running on well to win by three and a half lengths.

This was Flight Risk’s third win at Stakes level, having previously won the G3 Gladness Stakes and the G3 Ballycorus Stakes.

Flight Risk was bred by James Hanly and is one of four Black Type performers out of Raghida (Nordico), herself twice placed at Group level.

Teofilo is sire of 16 G1 winners to date, including recent Champions & Chater Cup victor Irishcorrespondent (now racing as Exultant), plus 2018 Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter, who is due to line up later this month in the G1 Gold Cup at Ascot’s Royal meeting.
