Teofilo sires new Group winner at Baden-Baden

G3 Länd Trophy victory for Alessio

Alessio, a four-year-old son of Teofilo, earned his first Group victory in the Länd Trophy at Baden-Baden, Germany on Sunday, 15 October.

Sitting handy turning into the straight, Alessio made his run up the centre of the track. Battling strongly, the Peter Schiergen-trained colt took up the lead in the final 150m to go on and score by one and a quarter-lengths in the 2400m race.  This was his third career win.

Owned and bred by Gestüt Ittlingen, Alessio is out of the winning-mare Alandia (Alderflug), herself a half-sister to Altano, a Champion Stayer in Italy and G1-performer, Araldo.

Teofilo is the sire of 23 G1 winners, including his four-year-old son, Nations Pride, who last weekend landed the G1 Canadian International, his second top flight win of the year, whilst his three-year-old daughter, Eternal Hope, continued to progress through the ranks as she won her second Graded title yesterday in the G2 Sands Point Stakes at Aqueduct.
