Sweet sixteen for Epaulette

Fayrouz Rose makes the perfect racecourse debut to become the latest winner for her first-season sire

Epaulette has been enjoying a successful year on the racecourse with his first runners and on Wednesday, 4 October he added his 16th winner when Fayrouz Rose won at the very first time of asking.

Breaking smartly from the stalls at Nottingham, Mick Channon’s charge was settled just behind the early paced. Asked to quicken once approaching the two-furlong marker, Fayrouz Rose kept on superbly to repel a strong challenge from the favourite La Diva and won the eight-and-a-half-furlong contest by half a length.

Fayrouz Rose was bred by James Waldron and is out of Very Nice (Daylami), also dam of Teofilo’s juvenile Stakes performer Teofilo’s Princess. They are from the family of G1-winning filly One So Wonderful.

Epaulette is also sire of Stakes-placed filly Sankari Royale, plus multiple winners Rogue, Regimented and Doublet.
