Meryl becomes Epaulette’s first dual Stakes winner

Filly leads throughout to win G3 Scarborough Stakes at Moonee Valley

The speedy filly Meryl became the first multiple Stakes winner for her sire Epaulette when she raced to a brilliant win in the G3 Scarborough Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday, 28 September.

Meryl became Epaulette’s first Group winner when she led throughout to take out the G3 BJ McLachlan Stakes in Brisbane as a two-year-old.

Along with the Australian-bred South African G1 winner Soqrat and the local filly Khulaasa, she helped her sire establish a first-crop record of three Group winners that is unsurpassed in Australian racing.

Epaulette is a half-brother to the outstanding racehorse Helmet, the sire of G1 Dubai World Cup winner Thunder Snow.

Epaulette’s dam, the Singspiel mare Accessories, has also produced the Stakes winners Pearls and Bullbars.

Epaulette is standing the current southern hemisphere season.
