Super Sunday for Singspiel

Glad Tiger heads up a Darley-sired 1-2 in the G3 Preis Des Winterfavoriten ahead of Noble Alpha (Shamardal); Godolphin's Zeitoper maintains his unbeaten record with victory in the G3 Prix de Conde

Singspiel enjoyed an outstanding afternoon with his current crop of two-year-olds on 18 October, recording a Group race double when Zeitoper took the G3 Prix de Conde at Longchamp, just hours before Glad Tiger headed up a Darley-sired 1-2 in the Preis Des Winterfavouriten at Cologne.

Godolphin’s Zeitoper maintained his unbeaten record when successfully stepping up in class to take the nine-furlong Prix de Conde. Breaking well, he was settled in second position before taking the lead a furlong from home and ran on well to win by a short neck.

Bred by Darley, Zeitoper is out of the dual Classic winner Kazzia, making him a full-brother to G1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Eastern Anthem.

In Cologne, Glad Tiger broke his maiden in tremendous fashion when outbattling Noble Alpha (Shamardal) to take the G3 Preis Des Winterfavoriten – Germany’s top race for juveniles.

Bred by Gestut Auenquelle, Glad Tiger becomes the third Black type winner out of the Big Shuffle mare Glady Beauty, who has produced another winner of the same race in Glad Lion.

Singspiel is also broodmare sire of Noble Alpha, who is out of G3 Premio Dormello winner Nouvelle Noblesse.

The 2009 renewal of the Premio Dormello also took place on Sunday, with King's Best filly Nantha taking second place to become her sire’s 17th Black type performer of the year.

Also on Sunday, first-season sire Dubawi recorded a new winner when Luck Or Design ran out the five-length winner of the six-furlong maiden at Naas.

Luck Or Design is out of the Green Desert mare Birjand, herself a daughter of G1 winner Belle Genius.
