Super sire Dubawi enjoys another new Group winner

Silius claims his first Group race victory at Chantilly

Silius broke his Group race duck in style at Chantilly on Sunday 19th July 2026, when toughing out the G3 Prix Messidor over one mile.

The Christophe Ferland-trained colt had finished second in G3 company on his last two runs at Paris Longchamp, but put those behind him when snatching victory in a tight finish under jockey Maxime Guyon. Settled behind the leaders, Silius raced with energy and took advantage of a clear run inside the final quarter mile. He appeared to relish the battle and stretched his head out to eventually win by a neck, keeping his pursuers at bay and claiming victory. With most of his previous wins coming on an easier surface, this was an admirable display of tenacity on tightening ground that did not look to be ideal for him.

Silius is a Wertheimer et Frere homebred, out of their dual G1-winning mare Silasol (Monsun), making him a full brother to last year's Canadian International winner Silawi.

Dubawi continues to provide top-flight winners globally, led on home turf by five-time G1 winner Notable Speech and the globetrotting Rebel's Romance. He led all stallions by yearling average in 2025, for the fifth consecutive year.
