Off to a successful start at stud

First mares scanned in foal to Cracksman, Harry Angel, Hawkbill, Jungle Cat and Cloth Of Stars

The five new additions to the European Darley roster have all made a successful start to their stud careers, each having their first mares scanned in foal recently.

They include world Champion and winner of the World’s Best Racehorse award, Cracksman (pictured). The best yet by Frankel, Cracksman won the Champion Stakes not once, but twice (each time by a wide margin) and was rated 136 by Timeform.

Also new to Dalham Hall Stud in 2019 is another world Champion in Harry Angel, who won the G1 Darley July Cup and G1 Sprint Cup at Haydock, taking the latter by no fewer than four legnths.

Standing alongside him is Hawkbill, whose G1 Eclipse win was rated equal to his paternal half-brother Roaring Lion. Last year he stormed to victory in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic.

Jungle Cat is new to the roster at Kildangan Stud in Ireland. The fastest son of leading sire Iffraaj, Jungle Cat was a top-class two-year-old, beaten just a head by Muhaarar in the Gimcrack. He went on to land the G1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai last year, before taking the G1 Rupert Clark in Australia.

Cloth Of Stars, standing at Haras du Logis in France, has proved hugely popular with breeders already. The first colt home in the last two Arcs, he won six Group races, including the G1 Prix Ganay.
