Stakes winners for Shamardal and Royal Applause

Femina Fashion strikes in Australia and Lovelace continues winning run

Three-year-old Femina Fashion became the eleventh individual Stakes winner for her young sire Shamardal when taking out the 1400m Gold Coast Bracelet. Bred by K Thomas and K Dixon, is a daughter of the Jeune mare So Tempted and has now racked up three wins in her career to date.

It has been a good week for Shamardal, who currently sits in third place on the second-crop sires’ table in Australia. His Irish-bred daughter Elle Shadow landed a Listed trial for the German Oaks at Mulheim while British-bred Acquainted ran second in the Cheshire Oaks and could now head to Royal Ascot for the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes.

Lovelace, who was sold out of Mark Johnston’s stable last month to join Dandy Nicholls, has now won two from two for his new yard, including Saturday’s Listed Spring Trophy Stakes at Haydock. The six-year-old son of Royal Applause won first time out as a two-year-old and has now notched nine victories, including the G2 Darley Oettingen-Rennen and the G3 Supreme Stakes. He was bred by Mary Taylor from Loveleaves, by Polar Falcon.

Dubawi Phantom, who is, unsurprisingly, by Dubawi, was runner-up in the G3 Derby Trial at Lingfield and holds entries for the Irish 2,000 Guineas and Irish Derby.
