Stakes victory for Santa Ponsa

Consistent daughter of Slickly adds her first Black type win

Santa Ponsa, a three-year-old daughter of Slickly, has certainly been quick off the mark in 2013, and recorded her third consecutive victory on 26 April and successfully stepped up in class in the process when landing the Listed Prix Caravelle at Toulouse.

Winning the ten-and-a-half-furlong contest by a neck from dual Stakes-placed filly Dance In The Dark, Santa Ponsa took her record to three wins and three seconds from six starts.

Owned and bred by Jean-Claude Seroul, she is out of the winning Sendawar mare Tounsi, dam of another Stakes winner in Fadela Style, who was third in the G3 Prix Chloe at three.

Monsieur Seroul has enjoyed some tremendous success with Slickly already, having bred G1 Prix d’Ispahan second and G2 Prix du Muguet winner Gris de Gris, plus fellow Black type performers Le Ring (Listed-placed this year), Carnevalo, Mariage Tardif, Splendido and Libertador.

Slickly, also sire of Meandre (who won two G1 contests in 2012), stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €7,000 October 1st SLF.
