Great Wish, a five-year-old son of Night Of Thunder, struck for the first time in Group company on Sunday, 30 August when winning the G3 Prix de Meautry. Run over 1200m at Deauville, he handled the heavy ground well to score by four-and-a-half lengths over Zzodiac, with La Brodeuse, a daughter of Night Of Thunder back in third.
Trained in Denmark by Brent Olson, who bought him for £130,000 as a breezer, Great Wish has now won nine career starts including a brace of Listed contests this season at Meydan and Copenhagen.
Bred by Mountarmstrong Stud, Great Wish is a son of G2 Queen Mary heroine Anthem Alexander, a half-sister to top sprinter Dandy Man. Anthem Alexander has already produced a multiple winner in 2026 through Silent Warning, a three-year-old by Dubawi, and her juvenile filly Chanter Le Blues (Blue Point) was placed on her only start at Windsor.
Night Of Thunder, Champion of 2025, is having another spectacular season and now has sired 18 Group winners, more than any other stallion in the world. They are led by G1 winners Ombudsman and Bow Echo, the top two horses trained in Europe, plus Ten Bob Tony, Estrange and Portfolio Duration.
